There can be various reasons for why the storage is full on your account (e.g. emails, images, backups etc) and this guide will help to show you how you can identify what&#8217;s using the storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"method-1-swapping-the-domain\"><strong>cPanel Disk Usage Tool:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>1. <strong>Login to your cPanel account<\/strong>. When you first set up an account with us, you would have received an email with the details on how you can gain access to your control panel. If you have lost those details, feel free to raise a support ticket, visit our website for live chat, or call in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Scrolling down the page we can see a smaller list similar to the general breakdown we see in the above image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"banner-tip\">\ud83d\udc49<strong>Tip: <\/strong>We can sort the list by largest first which will show us in which folders the majority of the storage is being used. We can also filter down through each folder\/directory by clicking the arrow icon to the left of each folder name, to reveal a more in depth overview of specifically which folders\/directories are using the most storage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"516\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.cloudabove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/cPanelUsageDetails-1024x516.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kb.cloudabove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/cPanelUsageDetails-1024x516.png 1024w, https:\/\/kb.cloudabove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/cPanelUsageDetails-300x151.png 300w, https:\/\/kb.cloudabove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/cPanelUsageDetails-768x387.png 768w, https:\/\/kb.cloudabove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/cPanelUsageDetails-1536x774.png 1536w, https:\/\/kb.cloudabove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/cPanelUsageDetails-770x388.png 770w, https:\/\/kb.cloudabove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/cPanelUsageDetails.png 1871w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As we identified above, the majority of the storage was being used by emails, however by using the smaller list at the bottom we&#8217;ve been able to dig a little deeper and find that the majority of the emails are specifically being used by the <em>&#8220;<strong>t<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>est@&#8221;<\/em> <\/strong>email account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"banner-note\">\ud83d\udca1 <strong>Note:<\/strong> In this example there&#8217;s only one email account setup so it&#8217;s obvious which email account is the culprit, however you may have multiple email accounts which will all be listed similar to the above image along with their respective storage usage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"switching-the-domain\">What to do about the storage usage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that we&#8217;ve identified what&#8217;s using the majority of the storage we have a choice to make;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We can clear out any old\/unwanted data, e.g. deleting emails via <strong>Webmail<\/strong> (making sure to remove them from the trash\/deleted items folder) to free up space on the account<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consider upgrading to a higher tier hosting plan to increase the available storage space.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"banner-note\">\ud83d\udca1<strong>Note: <\/strong>We recommend trying to free up storage space first before considering an upgrade.
