For our mailboxes, we recommend using IMAP, as this keeps your email synced across your phone, webmail, and any other devices.

Before you begin

You will need:

Your full email address, for example
yourname@yourdomain.com

Your mailbox password

Your incoming and outgoing mail server settings

For most cPanel mailboxes, the settings are:

Setting

Value

Account type

IMAP

Username

Your full email address

Password

Your mailbox password

Incoming server

mail.yourdomain.com

Incoming port

993

Incoming security

SSL/TLS

Outgoing server

mail.yourdomain.com

Outgoing port

465

Outgoing security

SSL/TLS

Require sign-in

Yes

Replace
yourdomain.com
with your actual domain name.

Select IMAP, using port 993 with SSL for incoming mail and port 465 with SSL for outgoing SMTP.

1. Open the Gmail app

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.

If you do not already have Gmail installed, download it from the Google Play Store.

2. Open the account menu

Tap your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner of the Gmail app.

3. Tap “Add another account”

From the account menu, tap Add another account.

4. Choose “Other”

When asked to choose the type of account, select Other.

5. Enter your email address

Enter your full email address, for example:

yourname@yourdomain.com

Tap Next.

6. Choose “Personal (IMAP)”

When asked what type of account this is, choose:

Personal (IMAP)

We recommend IMAP because it syncs your mailbox with the mail server. This means messages remain available in webmail and on your other devices.

Avoid POP3 unless you specifically need it. POP3 downloads mail to one device and is usually not the best choice when checking email on multiple devices.

7. Enter your mailbox password

Enter the password for your email mailbox, then tap Next.

This is the password for the email account itself, not necessarily the password for your CloudAbove client area or cPanel login.

8. Check the incoming server settings

Gmail should now ask for the incoming server settings.

Use the following:

Field

What to enter

Username

Your full email address

Password

Your mailbox password

Server

mail.yourdomain.com

Port

993

Security type

SSL/TLS

Tap Next.

9. Check the outgoing server settings

Next, Gmail will ask for the outgoing server settings.

Use the following:

Field

What to enter

Require sign-in

On / Yes

Username

Your full email address

Password

Your mailbox password

SMTP server

mail.yourdomain.com

Port

465

Security type

SSL/TLS

Tap Next.

10. Choose your account options

Gmail may ask how often to sync your email and whether to show notifications.

Choose the options you prefer, then tap Next.

11.
