So you’ve built yourself a new site on a temporary\/subdomain and you now want to set it live on another domain, perhaps one you’ve registered recently specially for this site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s a couple of different ways to do this in Scout<\/strong>, this guide will show you how to do both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udca1Note: <\/strong>Each method has their pros and cons, for example cloning the site creates a new copy of the site leaving the original staging site untouched, which can be useful if you’d still want to use the staging site as a template for another site or if you want to compare the new\/live site to the staging site to make sure everything is working as expected.

On the other hand simply swapping the domain can be a quicker\/more straightforward method, plus it doesn’t create a second site that takes up additional space on your server freeing you up to create other sites\/projects.

Either method is viable and is entirely up to you to choose which is better suited for your needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Method 1 (Swapping the domain):<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Login to your cloudabove account<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. Login to your\u00a0Customer Portal<\/a><\/strong> account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click on Scout Control Panel<\/strong> in the top row.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
    \n\n\n\n

    Open the Site settings<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    1. In Scout<\/strong>, you\u2019ll see a list of your Sites<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Find the site you want to manage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Click the Settings cog icon<\/strong> beside that site.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Add the new domain<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      1. Navigate to Domains & Redirects<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Navigate to the Domain<\/strong> management<\/strong> section and click Add domain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Switching the domain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        1. Click Change primary domain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Select the new domain from the drop down, then click Save changes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Scout<\/strong> will now automatically change the domain on the site for you, including changing the domain in the database<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Method 2 (Cloning the site):<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          Login to your freethought.group account<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          1. Login to your account Customer Portal<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. Click on Scout Control Panel<\/strong> in the top row.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
            \n\n\n\n

            Open the Site settings<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            1. In Scout<\/strong>, you\u2019ll see a list of your Sites<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            2. Find the site you want to manage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

              Cloning the site<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

              \ud83d\udca1Note: <\/strong>The cloning tool in Scout<\/strong> will clone the site you’re currently managing to whatever site you select in the drop down. For example, if you want to clone the site on Domain A<\/em><\/strong> to Domain B<\/em><\/strong>, you’ll want to go to the settings in Scout<\/strong> for Domain A<\/em><\/strong> and select Domain B<\/em><\/strong> as the destination in Tools > Clone site<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              1. Navigate to the Tools<\/strong> drop down in the top right.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              2. Select Clone site<\/strong> from the Tools<\/strong> drop down.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              3. Select the new site you wish to clone to from the drop down, then click Clone<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                Scout<\/strong> will now create a clone of the site for you as well as change domain in the database<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                That\u2019s it, you\u2019ve now set your staging site live in your Scout Control Panel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
