In this example, we clone <strong>yourdomain.com<\/strong> to <strong>clone.yourdomain.com<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"banner-note\">\ud83d\udca1  Your subdomain (e.g. <code>clone.yourdomain.com<\/code>) will need a DNS A record pointing to your server before the cloned site will be accessible. If you haven&#8217;t set this up yet, see: <strong><a href=\"\/help\/how-to-add-a-dns-a-record-for-a-subdomain\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4879\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How to Add a DNS A Record for a Subdomain<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Add the Target Domain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before cloning, the destination domain must exist in Plesk. Go to <strong>Websites &amp; Domains<\/strong> and click <strong>Add Domain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.freethought.group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/step1-websites-domains-edited.jpg\" alt=\"Websites and Domains overview showing Add Domain button\" class=\"wp-image-4916\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Choose &#8220;Blank Website&#8221;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Select <strong>Blank website<\/strong> from the options. This creates an empty domain ready to receive the cloned content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.freethought.group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/step2-choose-blank-website-edited.jpg\" alt=\"Adding New Domain - Choose Blank Website option\" class=\"wp-image-4918\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Enter the New Domain Name<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Under <strong>Registered domain name<\/strong>, enter the target domain (e.g. <code>clone.yourdomain.com<\/code>), then click <strong>Add Domain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.freethought.group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/step3-enter-domain-name-edited.jpg\" alt=\"Entering clone.yourdomain.com as the new domain name\" class=\"wp-image-4919\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Plesk will configure the domain, DNS, hosting, PHP, and mail automatically. You&#8217;ll see a confirmation when complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.freethought.group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/step3b-domain-created.jpg\" alt=\"Domain clone.yourdomain.com created successfully\" class=\"wp-image-4887\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Open the Clone Dialog<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Back on the <strong>Websites &amp; Domains<\/strong> page, expand <strong>yourdomain.com<\/strong>. Under the <strong>WordPress<\/strong> tab, click <strong>Clone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.freethought.group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/step4-clone-button-edited.jpg\" alt=\"WordPress tab showing Clone button for yourdomain.com\" class=\"wp-image-4920\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5: Configure the Clone Settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <strong>Clone My Website<\/strong> dialog, configure as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select <strong>Use existing domain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose <strong>clone.yourdomain.com<\/strong> from the dropdown.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leave the path field <strong>blank<\/strong> to clone to the root directory (not a subdirectory).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.freethought.group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/step5-clone-configured-edited.jpg\" alt=\"Clone dialog configured with clone.yourdomain.com and blank path\" class=\"wp-image-4921\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 6: Start the Clone<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Click <strong>Start<\/strong>. Plesk will copy the files, database, and update configuration automatically.
